There is a manual for the 1014 Electronic and 814 Autozoom.
The 814 Electronic is a cross between the two.

Yes it can do fade in/out MANUALLY via shutter control. IT CANNOT DO DISSOLVES.
I have one so ask any question you have.

Only the 1014 XL-S can do dissolves. I have both an 814 and an 814E, and they are mostly identical. The only differences I can think of is the way the film loads and the electronic, I believe, has an electronically controlled aperture. It can film in brighter light without filters because it has a slightly different aperture. The 814E has a macro lens. You can adjust the shape of the shutter (0-150) to do fades on the 814E, whereas you would just use the aperture on the 814E.
(On the electronic, these are the markings you may wonder about:
When you rotate the dial to OPEN, your shutter is at 150 degrees, and your exposure adjustment knob is at the dot position. When you rotate the dial to the 2 position, the shutter angle is at 75 degrees, and your exposure adjustment knob should be set at 2. When you turn the dial to 4, the shutter degree is 37 degrees and your exposure adjustment knob should be at 4. Finally, if you rotate the dial to close, it is closed. What this means is that when your dial is at 2, the diaphragm opening is half open...4 it is 1/4 open, etc...)
Other than those points, they look a little different but are really similar!
Thanx-Chris
P.S. - Two things that boggled my mind about this camera (814E) upon first arrival:
1. You have to sorta press the trigger in a little to get the light meter working. This is the worst design flaw on this model! It's an easy way to accidently use film.
2. There is an arrow on the variable shutter control dial...You must slide that thing left to unlock the dial, switch it back right to lock the shutter setting again.
Hope all this stuff helps. Or if you really feel the need to have a manual, check out http://www.craigcamera.com
